Load Shedding from today in parts of Maharashtra
MUMBAI: State power utility firm MSEDCL, which supplies electricity to more than 2.8 crore consumers across Maharashtra, has declared load shedding in some parts of the state from Tuesday. Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai will not be affected this summer.
Officials said on Monday evening MSEDCL will not carry out load shedding in Bhandup-Mulund, Thane and Navi Mumbai as these areas have lower power distribution losses and good recovery of bill payment as compared to other areas.
“We will carry out loadshedding in those pockets where there are more power thefts, power distribution losses and recovery of bill payments is poor. These include the G1, G2 and G3 category of consumers who are mostly near Kalyan areas in the Mumbai metropolitan region,” said a senior official.
He added parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada and Khandesh will face load shedding. “In some urban areas, even if we are carrying out power outages, we plan to restrict it to two hours,” he said.
